How To Study the Bible

Many people want to understand the Bible, but run into some problems along the way: "Is there a big story that ties this whole thing together?" or "What about these genealogies?"  I happen to like the question "Why does Leviticus seem so foreign to the things I wonder about?"  Every piece of literature needs to be understood from the standpoint of the culture and setting from which it arose and, although it is one book, the Bible is a pretty hefty piece of literature to comprehend without much background.  That is why this section of the website is being offered - to give folks some help in knowing how to begin to understand the Bible.  We will consider some basic principles and background issues for Bible study and then focus on each major section/type of Biblical literature as it is grouped in the English Bible.
