Alternatives

     As Christians, we believe (1) that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies that identify Him as the Messiah promised in Genesis 3:15, (2) His claims to be the "only" route to God and eternal salvation (John 5:21-23; 14:6), and (3) the Apostles' teaching that salvation is available in Jesus' Name alone (Acts 4:12)!

 

     However, there are many other religions and philosophies in the world and Jesus Himself taught His followers to love God first and then their neighbors also (Matthew 22:36-40) - even to love our enemies (Matthew 5:43-48).  Thus, we have no choice but to be respectful and considerate of those who hold other beliefs, while we also must reject their beliefs where they contradict our own.  Do all religions teach the same thing?  Do all religions worship the same God?  Is atheism (belief that no supernatural beings exist) the only "rational and "scientific" viewpoint available today?

 

     To answer such questions, we must first have some idea of what other "belief systems" are out there - the "alternatives"!  In this section, we will investigate other worldviews, philosophies, and religious systems.
